Yan Kalish

Since the start of his career with Baker Botts L.L.P. and Quinn Emanuel, Yan has been specialising in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as international and domestic litigation.
Yan represents clients in arbitration proceedings subject to the rules of various institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), etc., and investment disputes under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, including those initiated at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA).

Qualification
Yan is a Russian advocate and is qualified to practice the law of England and Wales.
Yan also advises clients on complex cross-border disputes involving court settlements in the US, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, UK, Poland, Latvia, British Virgin Islands, Cyprus, Singapore and Russia. Yan handled cases under the laws of New York, Delaware, England, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Norway, Singapore, Vietnam, Italy, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Panama, Cyprus, Latvia, Russia, and the Bahamas, Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands. Yan has obtained and successfully defended clients against injunctions, including the Worldwide Freezing Orders and Antisuit Injunctions in various jurisdictions.
Yan also has a track record of handling cases as an arbitrator (both as single arbitrator and on a tri-panel).
In 2021, Yan was included in the list of arbitrators of the Tashkent International Arbitration Centre (TIAC) and the Russian Arbitrators Guide: Next Generation. Yan is listed in the Russian Arbitration Centre’s (RAC) database of international arbitration experts and the database of real estate and construction experts. In 2023, Yan joined the newly established Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC) Council for the EMEA region.
Yan holds a PhD in political science and has authored dozens of scientific and practical publications on law and politics. Yan has lectured at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law (IZISP) teaching a course on the development trends of arbitration proceedings in Russia for Master’s students.
