Advising a Russian multimedia holding company on existing content distribution chains from the EU and the USA, including assessment of sanctions-related, regulatory, and contractual risks for companies involved in the distribution and licensing of content for Russia and the CIS.

Advising Etalon Group, one of the top 10 largest property developers in Russia, on the acquisition of a 35% stake in the UK-based innovative construction company QB Technology, as well as the acquisition of rights in relation to a complex of intellectual property assets and the registration of a high-tech product in the construction sector in Russia.

Assisting Google Inc. with the protection and enforcement of users’ intellectual property rights, including communication with government authorities, legal entities, and individuals regarding various intellectual property rights violations.

Advising an international cybersecurity and digital risk management company on brand protection matters, structuring royalty payments to software developers (including employees and contractors), registration of the company’s trademark portfolio in international and Russian registries, white labeling of software abroad, and other related issues.

Advising and representing the largest American toy manufacturer and owner of the Barbie doll, Mattel Inc., in Russian courts and state agencies on a variety of issues related to copyright, patent, and trademark infringements in Russia and various CIS countries, as well as combating counterfeit products, illegal production, import, and copying of the right holder’s well-known brands.

Handling administrative and judicial cases in Russia and CIS countries related to infringements of intellectual property rights belonging to the LEGO Group; providing advice on online and offline infringements, domain name disputes, and other matters concerning registration, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Russia and CIS countries; planning and organising field inspections and seizures of counterfeit products in cooperation with law enforcement and customs authorities; subsequently representing the company before Russian customs, law enforcement, and antimonopoly authorities; handling administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings in court, and more.

Coordinating the registration of Brother Industries Ltd.’s trademarks in the customs registries of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, addressing various issues related to counterfeit products and parallel imports, and advising the company on personal data protection matters.

Advising Caterpillar Inc. on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights across the CIS region; handling administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings in Russia and CIS countries; conducting investigations and organising raids in cooperation with law enforcement and customs authorities against manufacturers and distributors of counterfeit goods; subsequent case management in courts; ensuring customs protection; and addressing other IP-related issues both in and out of court, including anti-counterfeiting measures and handling online and offline infringements related to a wide range of products, such as oils, spare parts, construction machinery, workwear, and consumables.

Advising an independent French pharmaceutical company on combating counterfeit products and parallel imports, as well as providing advice on customs protection matters.

Advising a British multinational pharmaceutical company on registration in the Russian customs register and combating counterfeit products.

Coordinating customs enforcement measures for Moet Hennessy’s wines and spirits brands.

Developing strategies for the protection of various intellectual property rights and taking measures to combat counterfeit products and brand dilution in Russia and CIS countries for Kikkoman Corporation, a leading international producer of soy sauce and other food and beverage products. Organising test purchases and subsequently managing claims and enforcement actions in connection with intellectual property rights infringements.

Advising Yandex on a complex transaction involving the acquisition of the Delivery Club service from VK and the sale of the Dzen and News services to VK, including target due diligence.

Maria has 12 years of experience in the field of intellectual property and technology protection and enforcement in Russia and the CIS.

As a versatile IP lawyer, Maria advises clients in a variety of industries, including literature and art, information technology, cybersecurity, telecommunications and media, retail, internet and e-commerce, real estate, the fashion and luxury industry, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, as well as industry and transportation. Maria is a co-author of the intellectual property textbook of the Moscow State Law Academy (MSAL), the author of various academic articles on intellectual property, a member of the ICC Russia Intellectual Property Commission, Vice President of the IP Club, and a member of the commission for the development of the draft Federal Law on the regulation of artificial intelligence in Russia. Prior to DGP, Maria worked at the Moscow office of the international law firm Hogan Lovells and at the Moscow office of Google Inc.
