DGP Partner Spoke at the SPILF Session Dedicated to the Interaction Between State Courts and Arbitral Tribunals

On June 26, the third day of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum business program featured a session titled "Interaction Between State and Arbitration Courts: From Control to Cooperation."

During the session, Vladimir Pestrikov addressed the issues of interaction between state courts and arbitral tribunals, including obtaining interim measures in support of arbitration proceedings.

Vladimir pointed out that international practice includes efficient tools for cooperation, where state courts support interim relief granted by arbitral tribunals and ensure its prompt enforcement. He drew attention to real-world examples in Russia and abroad, focusing particularly on the track records of Hong Kong and Singapore. This positive foreign experience can be studied and implemented within the plan to boost the efficiency of interim measures in Russia, set out in the Dispute Resolution Roadmap of the National Business Development Model through 2030.

The discussion brought to the fore the most pressing issues regarding the enforceability of arbitral awards and the role of the state judicial system in supporting them. The panel participants exchanged views on the outcomes of the Russian arbitration reform post-2015, the key vectors for the further evolution of the arbitration system, and the challenges faced by practitioners amid the changing geopolitical landscape.
