DGP Partner Leads RISA Workshop on Complex Arbitral Jurisdiction Issues
Vsevolod Taraskin, Dispute Resolution Partner at Dyakin, Gortsunyan & Partners, led a practical workshop at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration (RISA).
During the event, students presented their positions on a mock case involving complex and controversial aspects of determining and challenging the arbitral tribunal's jurisdiction, as well as the possibility of changing the seat of arbitration.
During the moot court session, Vsevolod shared the firm’s practical expertise in handling complex commercial disputes. The workshop focused primarily on the validity of arbitration clauses under sanctions, the possibility of changing the seat of arbitration to neutralise the impact of sanctions, and extending arbitration clause to non-signatories. Resolving these issues accurately and in a timely manner at the initial stages of a dispute is of strategic importance. It directly determines, inter alia, the feasibility of the arbitration, the enforceability of the future award, and the proper joinder of parties.
Dyakin, Gortsunyan & Partners traditionally supports leading educational, academic and practical initiatives in the field of arbitration, contributing to the development of expertise within the Russian legal community.
