Matvey Tarasov spoke at the conference "Dangers of expanding the competence of the Eurasian Economic Union Court"
On December 21, Matvey Tarasov, PhD in Law, an associate in the firm's dispute resolution practice, spoke at the conference "Dangers of expanding the competence of the Eurasian Economic Union Court", which opened the finals of the student competition "Dispute Resolution in the EAEU — 2025".
As part of a panel of recognised practitioners in integration and international law, Matvey delivered a presentation titled "Investment Arbitration Involving Investors and States from the EAEU Region". In his talk, he reviewed the history and statistics of participation by parties from EAEU countries in investment arbitration disputes, with a special focus on disputes in which the applicable law was the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The statistics show that businesses from EAEU countries resort to investment arbitration more often than is commonly assumed, and that this form of dispute resolution has potential for further development across the EAEU.
A recording of the conference and the student teams' presentations is available on the website of the International and Comparative Law Research Center.
